Our studio’s philosophy is to provide a safe, family friendly venue for students to learn and develop a passion for dance.
Whether in our recreational stream, our pre-competitive or our on competitive teams, we strive to encourage teamwork, life long friendships, and an opportunity to perform either on our recital stage, at competitions, or in many of our community events.
We have an environment that offers three spacious studios, all with viewing windows for our family’s convenience.
We provide our students with qualified teachers that understand the needs of each level of a dancer’s abilities.
We have many choices in class times, ability levels, and a wide selection of dance styles.
We have experienced office staff available on site to help with any questions and to assist dancers or staff during teaching hours.
We present our dancers and families with a fabulous fun year end recital in a comfortable theatre atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.

Carrie Merrill Brown

Carrie Merrill-Brown has always wanted to devote her time and energy into making a difference in the lives of children. She has continually found great pleasure in teaching the youth of Mississippi Mills and surrounding areas since 1992 when she and her husband pursued her dream of building and opening the Almonte Academy of Dance.  Carrie has been involved in the vast world of dance since the age of eight. She trained and performed at many professional schools and venues in Ottawa and Quebec before graduating from the National Ballet School’s Teacher Training Program in Toronto.
Carrie has 27 years experience guiding and inspiring her dance students from the age of three to adulthood in creative movement, ballet, jazz, hip hop and fitness classes in both recreational and competitive streams of instruction. She later furthered her education in Behaviour Management, Literacy and Special Education for children. As a result Carrie now has the privilege of working with students and staff at Huntley Centennial Public School throughout the school year.
After watching over two generations of students grace the doors of the Almonte Academy of Dance, Carrie was awarded the Cultural Achievement award of Mississippi Mills in 2006.  She was deeply honoured to receive such a prestigious award and will always be grateful to have been recognized by her community for a job she loves to do.  She looks forward to having the opportunity of working with another generation of youth in the years to come.  It is still her wish that all those who have a dream of exploring dance and all of the different facets it has to offer, will always be given the opportunity to do so.
